Cath Lab Technician
The Cath Lab Technician assists in cardiac catheterization procedures, operates specialized imaging equipment, and ensures patient safety during both diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role requires close collaboration with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Procedure Assistance & Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and other interventional procedures.
- Assist cardiologists during angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker implantation, and related cardiac procedures.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and maintain safety throughout procedures.
- Administer contrast media under the guidance of a physician.
- Provide post-procedure care instructions and support patient recovery monitoring.
Equipment Handling & Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain catheterization lab equipment, including fluoroscopy machines and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- Ensure proper calibration, sterilization, and functionality of all cath lab instruments.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues with imaging and diagnostic equipment.
Documentation & Quality Control:
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, equipment usage, and patient information.
- Follow hospital protocols, safety standards, and infection control guidelines.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives to improve patient care and procedural outcomes.
Team Collaboration & Continuous Learning:
- Collaborate closely with cardiologists, nurses, and radiologic technologists to maintain smooth workflow.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in cardiac procedures and imaging technology.
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and hospital meetings for professional development.
